A cost effective alternative to leased lines and dark fiber is a Wireless link or Network which can be designed to be more reliable. This of course, assumes the link or network has been engineered, installed and is maintained by a qualified organization. A design for a wireless link or Network starts with a designation of the sites. A site survey is then performed to determine; if line-of-sight is available, link or path distance, locations for mounting for indoor and outdoor equipment and cable routes. A survey helps determine a workable solution meeting your requirements.

Feasibility Studies: A study of the network requirements is conducted to determine the best transmission medium. A visit to all sites of the planned network is performed to determine;

Line of sight surveys: Similar to feasibility study, his phase is commonly called a Path Survey which focuses on determining what it is required to establish line of sight between wireless sites. Potential obstructions are identified and a path profile plotted to determine the antenna heights needed to clear any obstructions.

Paper Survey: We review topographic maps (including US Geological Survey), aerial photographs to determine if a paper analysis provided line of sight between wireless locations. Potential obstructions are identified and path profile plotted to determine the antenna heights needed to clear terrain obstructions.
Note: A Line of sight survey is required to accurately verify man-made and tree elevations (obstructions).

Performance Calculations: Path availability will be calculated using International accepted computer program to estimate the annual outage time due to weather related attenuation. A Quality or performance prediction is provided for the planned wireless link over the specified distance.
