Wireless Equipment Options

Free Space Optics

Free Space Optical (FSO) systems have a range up to2 miles. FSO is more secure and cost effective with bandwidths up to 1.25Gbps are available.

Licensed Radio

Microwave and millimeter radios operate in 6, 11, 18, 23, 38 and 80 GHz frequency bands can be granted a FCC License to protect against interference. Ethernet and TDM interface are available, newer products transport both with capacities varying from 50 Mbps to 1.25Gbps. It is important to note that due to congestion a FCC license is unavailable in some metropolitan areas and frequency bands. We can complete the FCC licensing process as a service to our customers.

Unlicensed Radio

Wireless in the 900 MHz, 2.4, 5.3, 5.8, 14 and 60GHz frequency bands can operate license-free without obtaining a FCC license. These radios are less expensive and used for quick deployment or in less congested locations. Available with both Ethernet and TDM interfaces some newer products transport both with capacities from 10 Mbps to 1.25Gbps. Point to Multipoint systems are available for Campus wireless wide area networks or Citywide broadband wireless access networks.

Hybrid Systems

These are systems that combine a FSO system with RF to provide increased capacity and reliability with auto-failover between the two.
